Natural Edge Bowls

One of my TM students invited me to visit his cabinet shop in West Chester, Pennsylvania. On arriving my eye fell on some uprooted stumps on his waste pile. Further inquiry revealed they were ash stumps and I was welcome to them if I so desired. I had some problems cutting them up as they were full of mud in the roots and quickly dulled my chain saw. However, if these are any indication, the struggle
was worth the effort.

Spalting, or fungal attack brings out so many wonderful patterns and colors. I never get tired of looking at the infinite variety of nature. Also pictured here is a small natural edge cherry bowl.
