Adorable Wooden Mouse

These hand-turned wooden mice will produce squeals of delight to children and grown ups alike. When I do craft show, I always like to have something for the children. They have to live in a grown up world where everything is so big. So when they see something just the right size for them and something they can touch and hold, it makes the trip to the craft show more fun for them.

Children have such great imaginations. These mice are very simple. Two shapes, some holes for eyes and a little bit of tail, and even the smallest child knows what it is. I gave one to a neighbor child who is not quite three. Her mother said that she made a special purse for it and carries it with her wherever she goes.

The mice are made from maple wood and the tail is hemp. The ears are secured by sturdy copper wire glued into holes drilled in the ear and body. They are small but remarkably sturdy. They are a natural toy with no plastic or artificial chemicals that are sure to please children for as long as they last.
